@ ALBANY, NY

I am originally from Colombia.  I have been in the US for 11 years now.

I have two beautiful daughters which I have been actively teaching them other languages since they were babies.  I was really amazed when I saw my babies learning so fast and so easy, then I decided to start teaching Spanish to other kids.  Developing my own methodology based on the idea that children should enjoy while learning was really a plus.  Given the fact that kids' attention is not very long, in my classes I choose different activities to emphasize the same idea or topic.  Songs played with the guitar, phrases with rythm, puppet shows, dancing, craft making, group games, are some of the activities I use to capture their attention and specially to make them have a good time.

My daughters give me great support, not only because they participate actively but also because other kids follow their example more easily.  "Kids learn easily from other kids".

I have been really lucky in my life having the opportunity to travel around the world. Besides some vacations trips I spent 5 months in France, 4 months in Japan and 6 months in Australia. Learning other languages have been a great experience to be able to understand other cultures. I feel really fortunate to have the opportunity to transfer my knowledge to little people. It is very rewarding to see how these small heads absorb everything like sponges !!

The Spanish Immersion Workshop will not only expose your child to a new language, it will also immerse her/him in the Latin culture.

As much as we have been traveling, we have been exposed to different cultures. That is a unique experience. We have learned to understand people's thinking and behavior not matter how different it is from ours.  We respect and admire their art, their music, their customs and themselves.  That is one of the reasons why I would like to share with other children and families my Latin American culture.   My guests will enjoy discovering new ways of naming things, new games, new songs, different food, different music, different dances.  I am sure they will have fun while learning a new language.
This experience will enrich them as a person making them conscious of other people in the world, so when they grow up, they could also respect and love discovering new ways of enjoying life.
